This second edition is the product of an international initiative to study the large and diverse genus Mycosphaerella including its anamorphs. The author travelled widely to examine the type specimens of the thousands of species described in the genus Mycosphaerella and its earlier name Sphaerella. Mycosphaerella and its anamorphs: 2. Conspectus of Mycosphaerella is the result of his thorough studies.

In this conspectus, a revision of species described in Mycosphaerella and Sphaerella is presented. Listed by epithet, each name is briefly reviewed including: full citation, synonyms, the citation for the type specimen, and a decision about the deposition of that taxon based on an examination of the type specimen. The genus Stigmidium is expanded in this second edition to encompass fungicolous species and internal parasites of algae, and includes the genus Mycophycias. This book concludes with a host index based on the plant genus and a key to genera and species “often confused with Mycosphaerella” which will be especially useful to plant pathologists as well as keys to the morphological species of Davidiella and Mycosphaerella.

Features:

- Key to genera similar to Mycosphaerella

- Keys based on morphology and host family to species of Davidiella and Mycosphaerella

- Overview of Mycosphaerella

- Index to species based on host plant genus

Each Name Includes:

- Evaluation of type specimen

- Deposition of species name

- Substrate and origin
